Officially hating on oversized hair accessories by Johnny Loves Rosie.

Oversized hair accessories from Johnny Loves Rosie. [+]

I first came across Johnny Loves Rosie via Fashion Indie. Rebecca says they're "really cute", but I'm not so sure.

I love cute little plaid bows, but I think I'm officially hating these oversized hair accessories.

More styles from Johnny Loves Rosie. [+]

I'd actually prefer their other hair accessories, like this large cream rose corsage/salon from their Bridal Collection. If I'm ever going to be spotted wearing something that's 20cm big, it's going to be something this elegant.

Officially hating on heart-shaped sunglasses.

Officially hating on heart sunglasses. Thanks, Kelly and Luke. [+]

Kelly Osbourne and boytoy Luke Worrell were spotted leaving hot-spot Bungalow 8 on Friday night, sharing the love by sporting some interesting sunglasses..

I'm more than okay with all the love, but I'm officially hating on those heart-shaped glasses.

Did you know that Luke is only 18 years old while Kelly is 26? Scandalous! [+]

There's something about these sunglasses that make me regress to my childhood days. It brings back memories of playing dress up and pretend, but also, urges of wanting to kill. Maybe it's because I associate these sunglasses with Minnie Mouse and, indirectly, my psychotic view of Disneyworld.

Don't get me wrong. I'm all for spreading the love... just not on my face.

If you are a fan of this look, you're in luck. You can find a similar pair over at Fred Flare for only $10.

HELLO: My laptop crashed...

Saturday, June 28, 2008 0 comments

A broken laptop is behind my lack of updates. [+]

My lack of updates really bothers me. On a daily basis, I tell myself that I will post at least one entry on Fashion Roar, but as my day goes on, something triggers my intentions to slip my mind.

Last month it was because of school. As time progressed, so did my excuses: School turned into boyfriend issues then into family issues. After dealing with those issues, I was put off by the internet and spent time away from the computer. When that phase was over and I was ready to start blogging again, my laptop crashes. I was extremely limited to the amount of time I spent on the internet and it was stressing me out. Great.

So that is the reason why I haven't blogged as much this past month or so.

Luckily, I got a new laptop and my funk is over... so HELLO to updates!

Dita Von Teese is the epitome of perfection.

Dita Von Teese grazes the cover of next month's Maxim Germany and although I can't read German to save my life, I know what they're saying: "Dita Von Teese is the epitome of perfection." There is something about this woman that is so enchanting, I, myself, have fallen in love. [+]

HELLO: No fashion today, just dancing.

, Sunday, June 8, 2008 1 comments

I have nothing fashion to write about right now. My arms are completely sore from dancing yesterday. We were front row center for Steve Aoki's set at BFD and let me just say, he rocked the mother-fucking house.

Being five feet tall and front row center at a show where you know people will be dancing is such a... challenge! I had to literally beat up this girl on my right who was trying to get into my spot! She was trying to etch her way in little by little, but I was having NONE of it. I took all of my five-foot self and knocked her down. Both my boyfriend and my boyfriend's cousin had their arms around me so that I wouldn't drown in the crowd.

DJ AM came out for a bit. He had a set after Aoki, but we were so busted from dancing that we didn't stay. In retrospect, we should've probably stayed. From the outside, it sounded like he spun more then Aoki.

Besides my sore arms, I have three huge battlescars resulting from Aoki's set alone! One on my foot and two on both my knees from banging them on the railing that separated me and Aoki. Sigh.

Playradioplay! was there too. They were sexy. All in all, I had a pretty wonderful time. Aoki is very sweaty, but also a very sexy Asian.

OUTFITS: (06/04/2008) Seeing red!!!

Friday, June 6, 2008 3 comments

The reason why I'm seeing red was because this was the last day I was in SoCal. Depressing, I know.

All my clothes were already packed by the time I started getting ready to leave. That left me to a red skirt I bought two years ago that I left in my mom's closet, a Hanes t-shirt I found in my little brother's closet and a pair of blue slip-ons I left at home the last time I visited.

It isn't all that great, but I needed to update so there!

T-Shirt: Hanes Men ($2)
Tank Top: Forever 21 ($8)
Skirt: Secondhand ($4)
Shoes: H&M ($20)
Bracelets: French Connection ($40)
Ring: From my mother's closet ($0)

RANTINGS: Sex and the City: The Movie

, Wednesday, June 4, 2008 4 comments

Because I stayed loyal like a true SATC fan, I have refused to read anything/watch anything SATC-related in fear of ruining the movie since the BEGINNING OF THE YEAR. I event went as far as to not make any posts about the upcoming movie. The only thing I couldn't avoid was those damn trailers on TV that basically gave Charlotte's plot away. Boo!

After spending the entire weekend with my family, I finally found time to go partake in the most anticipated cinematic adventure of the summer with my boyfriend. We went to the 11:00PM showing in a deserted movie theater in Riverside, CA. Translation: We were the only two people there! The experience was actually quite pleasant -- I was able to yell at the scream as much as I wanted without anyone judging me or telling me to shut up. It was truly fantastic.

*WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD!*

I, for one, LOVE the fact that "John James Preston" left standing Carrie at the alter (or, should I say library steps?). If he didn't, he wouldn't have been his "Big" self. I don't think the confrontation scene couldn't have been more perfect. There were so many emotions going on, you couldn't help but feel the pain Carrie was in. The way Carrie attacked Big with the bouquet -- priceless. The best was when Charlotte told Big to stay away from them. Her face was filled with SO much anger, an expression she hardly ever has on. It was truly an amazing scene. All in all, I'm glad they ended up together. After ten years!

I absolutely HATE the fact that Steve cheated on Miranda. His confession had to be the most jaw dropping moment of the movie. My boyfriend said he immediately knew Steve cheated when he saw his face -- and truth be told, I did as well; I just didn't want it to be true. Miranda changed so much of herself to be with Steve and for him to commit adultery over not having sex for six months is... is flat out outrageous. If anything, I always thought they would have the happiest ending. I'm glad their storyline ended the way it. When they saw each other at the bridge, I nearly cried... Okay, I totally cried.

I LOVE that Charlotte shat herself. I'm sorry to say this because I love her, but she was always, always, ALWAYS such a prissy character! She was put off by anal sex and male masturbation! I mean, come on! She had it coming. I'm glad that was the only bad thing that happened to her. When she told Carrie about her fears that something bad was going to happen to her, I thought maybe something bad might happen to her or the baby, but I'm really happy to see she got the happy ending she has always imagined. She really did deserve it after all the "I believe in LOVE!" bullshit she made us go through for the past how many years! The only issue I have with her storyline is... well, her baby was ugly! I'm sorry!

I LOVE that Samantha got fat for a guy. For two seconds, I thought that Samantha was going to cheat on Smith Jared with Dante (or whatever), but I'm very pleased she got fat and then broke up with him instead. He took it really lightly, I think. I really wish she would've settled down with him. He was really good for her. On the other hand, I could never see her settling down. It just isn't in her character.

What I loved the best was the very beginning where Carrie picks up a picture of all four of them -- this picture. I love, love, LOVE this picture of them.

Overall, I'm happy with the movie. They really did give a lot away in the trailer, but I also read somewhere that they cut a lot out of the movie. Supposedly, Smith Jared was to have a bigger part, Steve's mother was to be in the movie and Aiden was was to show up somewhere. I hope they end up adding a bunch of deleted scenes into the DVD, making an extended movie. I know there a couple of scenes that surfaced online but didn't make it into the movie.

SHOPPING: Sewing machine

Tuesday, June 3, 2008 4 comments

After months and months of debating, I finally bought a sewing machine. It's really nothing special; a basic sewing machine with a couple different stitch options. I used to sew in high school, but after going through my entire closet and reconstructing nearly 80% of my clothes, I never bought fabric and learn how to follow patterns.

This summer, I really want to change that. I plan on starting small -- maybe tailoring some thrifted finds. Eventually, I'd like to learn how to follow a pattern. We'll see how good I am at tailoring garments first.

OUTFITS: (06/02/08) Sunshine for a shiny day!

Monday, June 2, 2008 4 comments

My boyfriend and I decided to go to the beach yesterday for some fun in the sun. We didn't end up going into the water like we wanted because we -- and by "we", I mean "I" -- didn't dress up for the occasion. (I couldn't find my flip flops!)

Because I live in San Francisco, I never get to show off my stubby little legs (and THANK GOD for that!). Now that I'm visiting my parents in sunny Southern California, I decided to change from my normal attire -- which mainly consists of skinny jeans and black garments -- to something semi-fit for the beach.

I raided my mother's closet yesterday and came out with some pretty cool things. She has these brown platform wedges that I can't wait to use as well as some pretty cool belts from her old days. It turns out she actually had some style back in the day!

Top: From my mother's closet ($0)
Dress: Thrifted ($5)
Belt: From my mother's closet ($0)
Shoes: Target ($20)
Bracelets: French Connection ($40)
Ring: From my mother's closet ($0)

It's funny that my bracelets cost more than everything else that I'm wearing.

FASHION NEWS: French fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent dies at age 71.

, Sunday, June 1, 2008 1 comments

"Fashion is not only supposed to make women beautiful, but to reassure them, to give them confidence, to allow them to come to terms with themselves."
- Yves Saint-Laurent
One of fashion's most celebrated designers, Yves Saint Laurent, died Sunday evening according to long time friend and associate said. He was 71.

Pierre Berge, Saint Laurent's business partner for four decades and former romantic partner, said he had died at his Paris home following a long illness.

Saint Laurent, the last of a generation that included Christian Dior and Coco Chanel, was considered the most influential and enduring designer of his time, creating instant classic pieces which included see-through blouses, safari jackets and glamorous gowns that remain stylish decades later.

At the age of 17, Saint Laurent proved himself as a promising designer when he won first prize in a contest sponsored by the International Wool Secretariat for a cocktail dress design. A year later, he was introduced to Christian Dior and was hired as a design assistant on the spot.

When Dior suddenly died in 1957, Saint Laurent took over House of Dior at the age of 21. His first collection -- the "trapeze" line -- was a hit and launched him to fashion stardom.

After being drafted into military service in 1960 and discharged for nervous depression later that year, Saint Laurent went through bouts of depression. He was institutionalized in a French mental hospital, where he underwent psychiatric treatment, including electroshock therapy, for a nervous breakdown.

By 1962, Saint Laurent was released from Dior in wake of his nervous breakdown. He went on to create his own haute couture fashion house later that year with Gauche.

Saint Laurent's first line under his own label was deemed "the best collection of suits since Chanel" by Life Magazine.

Saint Laurent's rising star was eternalized in 1983, when the Metropolitan Museum of Art devoted a show to his work, the first ever to a living designer.

Over the years, Saint Laurent created pieces that revolutionized modern fashion. His style of a black leather jacket and knit turtleneck with high boots and sleek pantsuits proved that women could also wear men's clothing. His trademark tuxedo continues to be a high fashion statement today.

I wonder if Stefano Pilati, YSL's current designer, will reprise Saint Laurent's legendary style in any of his upcoming collections. It would definitely be a wonderful tribute in honor of the great designer.

HELLO: Because I'm such a perfectionist...

I couldn't sleep a wink last night. I'm running on no hours of sleep. As a result, I revamped Fashion Roar. I just redid the layout and deleted a bunch of my old entries (half of them, at least). I hate that I don't update anymore so I did this to keep my interest in it.

It's definitely still a work in progress, but I'm liking the results so far. what do you think?
